Handling spent nuclear fuel rods for storage

A bundle of nuclear fuel rods is transferred from a first container to a second container beneath it. The bundle is held in the upper container by a movable hatch. - One or more sets of rollers are located at the bottom of the first container. The bundle is positioned between the rollers. When the hatch is opened, the rollers are remotely actuated so as to engage the bundle and drive it downwards into the second container.
