<p>Griseolic acid derivs. of formula (I) and their salts, but excluding 7'(R)-griseolic acid and its salts, are new. A-B=CR5=N or CR8-NR7; R1, R2, R5, R6=H, halogen, N3, OR9, NR10R11 or SR9; R3=H, halogen, acyloxy or 1-6C alkoxy; R4=H or halogen; or R3+R5= double bond; or R2+R3=-O- bridging the 2 C atoms to which they are attached; R7=opt. substd. 1-6C alkyl, 2-6C alkenyl or aryl-(1-6C) alkyl, the substits. being halogen, 1-4C alkoxy or (1-4C) alkoxy carbonyl, or for the aryl-(1-6C) alkyl gp., 1-4C alkyl; R8=O, S or NH; R9=H, 1-6C alkyl, 5- or 6-membered heterocyclyl (contg. 1-3 N, O or S and opt. substd. by 1-3 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy), tri-(1-4C) alkylsilyl, alkylsulphonyl, haloalkylsulphonyl, arylsulphonyl, 1-20C aliphatic acyl or aromatic acyl; R10, R11 =H, OH, 1-6C alkyl, 1-8C hydroxyalkyl, 1-6C aminoalkyl, aralkyl, aryl, 1-6C alkoxy, NH2, 1-20C aliphatic acyl or aromatic acyl; or NR10R11=5- or 6-membered heterocyclic gp.
