摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a contact lens which has good hydrophilicity and adaptability to a living body and excellent shape stability, makes hardly depositable with protein and is wearable for a long period of time by forming the lens of a copolymer of a radically polymerizable cyclic urethane compd. and a comonomer consisting essentially of monomers copolymerizable therewith. CONSTITUTION:The lens consists of the copolymer of the radically polymerizable cyclic urethane compd. and a comonomer consisting essentially of the monomers copolymerizable therewith. The radically copolymerizable cyclic urethane compd. refers to the compd. of the structure in which a substituent having a radically polymerizable function group such as vinyl group or acrylic group is coupled with the cyclic urethane compd. expressed by the formula. Such compd. is used for the purpose of providing a high hydrous property to the lens and the mixing ratio with the other copolymerizable monomer is determined by the hydrophilicity and moisture content of the resulted polymer. The higher moisture content than the moisture content of NVP is thus obtd. and high permeation of oxygen is possible. The amt. of the cyclic urethane compd. to be used is decreased and the improvement in the shape stability and mechanical strength is possible by increasing correspondingly the crosslinkable monomer. The deposition of protein and lipid is made difficult by increasing the amt. of the crosslinkable monomer.
