<p>Container is pivotably mounted on a mobile carriage, and is engaged by a member at the container's destination, which pivots it to lie at an angle to the direction of motion in response to movement of the carriage. - A car (10) running on rails has a support beam (12) welded to crosspieces (14,16) at its upper forward surface and lower rear surface respectively. Plates (18) extending upwardly from the forward cross piece (14) carry a pair of wheels (22), and plates (20) extending downwardly from the rear cross piece (16) carry three spaced pairs of wheels (22) and are joined by a U-beam (24). A container (26) for nuclear fuel rods is mounted on swivel pins (28) in the rear plates (20) and is provided with pairs of hooks (46,146) on its upper rear and lower forward faces. The hooks are engaged by pins at each end of a conduit through which the rails run.</p> |
