SEPARATOR FOR CYLINDRICAL ALKALI CELL

PURPOSE:To secure a cylindrical shape with a bottom without using adhesive by forming a separator in the cylindrical shape having the bottom made of a material cut out in a rhombic shape as well as positioning the acute angular portion of the separator inside its opening part. CONSTITUTION:A separator used for a cylindrical alkali cell is formed by winding the separator 1 cut out in a rhombic shape from an unwoven sheet of nylon or the like around a cylindrical core 1.5-3 times, besides positioning the acute angular portion C of the separator 1 cut out at a smaller angle than a right angle inside its opening part and then bending its bottom part inward which is heat-sealed to form a bottom. Accordingly, without using adhesive, the cylindrical shape can be kept not to be deformed by making the opening part outer diameter (a) and the bottom part outer diameter (b) in the same size. Therefore, it is possible to reduce its manufacturing man-hours as well as to prevent dispersion of short circuit current by stabilizing absorption of electrolytic liquid.
