PURPOSE:To obtain the three-dimensional data of a subject with simple constitution with extremely good economic efficiency by tracing the contour of a stereoscopic image obtd. by a stereoscopic photograph by a tracing stylus. CONSTITUTION:The subject is photographed by a stereoscopic camera and a film 1 obtd. as a result of the photographing is placed to the home position of a viewer 2. The stereoscopic image 3 is obtd. when the film 1 is viewed by eyepiece lenses 2a, 2b of the viewer 2. The signal indicating the coordinates at the top end position of the tracing stylus 4 is obtd. from a digitizer 5 when the tip of the stylus 4 is moved along the contour of the image 3. The three- dimensional data of the image 3 is obtd. when the stylus 4 is moved over the entire region of the image 3. The data is the three-dimensional data of the image 3 and the real size of the subject is obtd. when the data is multiplied by a prescribed magnification.
