Safety electrical extension including a cable bundle 2 comprising at least two power cables 5, 6, an earth cable 8 and a control cable 7, the said bundle being connected at one end to a safety casing 1 and at the other end to a female socket 3, and a male socket 4 connected to the end of the cable bundle for supplying an appliance. The male socket 4 includes an AC rectifier element 29, advantageously a diode, in order to close a circuit for controlling the extension, supplied with low-voltage AC and comprising the earth cable 8, the control cable 7, a control relay element 14, advantageously an optocoupler 141, and a selection element for rendering the said control relay element responsive to the rectified current alone. When the male socket 4 is plugged into the female socket 3, the control relay element 14 is energised and controls a power relay 9. <IMAGE>
