The underframe according to the invention, comprising at least one leg 4 and means for linking the leg to the top 2 of the piece of furniture, is characterised by the fact that the linking means consist, for each leg, of at least one element 5 firmly mounted on the underside of the top 2 and projecting downwards from the latter, the said element 2 forming a profile for receiving the upper part of the leg 4, and means 6 for removable fastening being provided between the element 5 and the leg 4. <IMAGE>
