A water-sol. substd. polyacrylamide grafted starch polymer comprises (i) at least 5 wt.% polyacrylamide and (ii) substd compds. with at least two aldehyde units. Specifically (ii) is from glyoxal, glutaraldehyde, cyanuric acid aldehydes, etc. The grafted starch polymer contains 5 - 90 wt.% polyacrylamide. The prod. is used as a paper additive conferring wet strength. |
