PURPOSE:To inhibit effectively the corrosion of an electrically conductive roll by supplying anodic current to the roll during electroplating so as to form a passive film on the surface of the roll. CONSTITUTION:A strip 1 is held between an electrically conductive roll 2 and a backup roll 3 in a plating soln. 4, and it is conveyed and electroplated with a metal by supplying electric current to the roll 2 and the strip 1 as the cathode. At this time, an electrode 5 for anodic protection having a width nearly equal to the width of the roll 2 is placed close to the roll 2, and anodic current is supplied to the roll 2 through a rectifier 6 for anodic protection to form an anodic passivated film on the surface of the roll 2. The corrosion of the roll 2 by the plating soln. and the scratch of the plated surfaces of the strip 1 due to the corrosion of the roll are prevented. |
