PURPOSE:To convert the change of a mechanical rotating angle to a continuously changing electrical phase angle in analog quantity by outputting two phase sinusoidal wave signals from a pulse encoder according to the prescribed change of the mechanical rotating angle and making the above-mentioned conversion by using such signals and constant frequency sinusoidal wave signal. CONSTITUTION:The two phase sinusoidal wave signals ea-eb of p cycle frequency are outputted from a pulse encoder 1 according to 360 deg. change of the mechanical rotating angle of the extent theta of movement. These signals are respectively multiplied by the sinusoidal wave signal ef from a sinusoidal wave oscillator 2 in multipliers 3, 4, by which the signals ex, ey are formed. The sinusoidal wave e0 having the phase deviation thetae (=p.theta) changing continuously from the phase of the signal ef from a phase converter 5 as a reference is outputted in accordance with the above-mentioned two signals. The rotating angle or rotating speed of the rotating body or the extent of the movement of a moving body is detected with high accuracy in accordance with the continuous and relatively large phase deviation quantity that the phase deviation thetae possesses.
