Linear water pump operated with solar energy, a liquid working medium being evaporated in an absorber pipe 2 with the aid of a concentrating collector, for example a linear Fresnel lens 1, and conducted under a working piston 5 which is connected via a steel wire 4 to a pump piston 18 and with its upward movement delivers water via a riser pipe 15 into a tank 14, in which a pipe coil condenses the vapour of the working medium flowing in as a result of the upward movement of the working piston, and passing via a feed pump 8, 9 back into the absorber pipe again, whereupon the working cycle which is regulated by four two-way valves 6, 7 and 10, 11 is repeated. <IMAGE>
