A generator for driving various objects, for example a toy. A dynamo is driven by means of a spring mechanism, with an external source being switched off. The spring mechanism shaft is connected via a spring-strip coupling to a shaft on which a gearwheel is seated which has an internal tooth system and, via a gearwheel, drives a small gearwheel which is seated on the shaft of the dynamo and drives the said dynamo. In order to extend the dynamo drive time, different spring mechanisms can be connected one behind the other, which run successively. An electric motor can be driven, or illumination can be carried out, directly or via a storage battery, by the current produced via the dynamo.
