The apparatus contains a housing (1) on which functional main mechanisms for feeding articles and an exploding foil (6) are mounted. Furthermore, an electrode arrangement (11) is attached to the housing (1). The electrode arrangement (11) is displaced along its axis and has a unit for electrode cleaning. Furthermore, periodically moving guide nozzles (14) which conduct the stream of explosion products to the articles are provided in the apparatus, these guide nozzles (14) being arranged so as to be displaceable along their axis and being provided with an elastic element. A device for cleaning the guide nozzles (14) is provided in the apparatus. This device is connected to a device for the periodic movement of the same from the working position into the cleaning position. The electrode arrangement (11) is constructed in the form of a coaxial unit with a central electrode displaced along its axis. The present apparatus can be used as an automatic local gold-plating apparatus or as an apparatus for applying another coating in various branches of industry where the application of metal coatings of limited area in the form of spots of various geometry is necessary. <IMAGE>
