A drafting frame for a ring spinning machine comprises short, centrally driven and mounted rollers 2, 3, 4 which are disposed transversely of the frame length and are associated with known presser rollers, weighting means etc. (not shown). In Fig. 1 the rollers 2, 3, 4 are driven from shafts which run the length of the frame inside a gearbox 1, the drive being transmitted via helical gears, worm and wheel means of chain linkage. The rollers 2, 3, 4 may as shown in Fig. 1 be positionally fixed or as in Fig. 4, not shown, the rollers 2, 3 may be mounted in and driven by seperate gearboxes 21, 22 which are vertically adjustable on rods 23, 24 to vary the separation of the rollers. More than one yarn may be processed on each side of the gearbox.</p> |
