<p>A ram air turbine (10) having a rotatable hub assembly (15) mounting a plurality of bifurcated blades (20, 21) having pairs of spaced-apart airfoils (50-53) offset from the pitch axis of rotation (55) of the blade relative to the hub assembly. Centrifugal twisting moments associated with the blade airfoils (50-53) act in a direction to urge the variable pitch blade (20, 21) toward a coarse pitch with resulting reduction in speed of rotation of the hub assembly in the event there is a failure in the control mechanism (77, 79) for controlling the pitch of the blade.</p> |
