The invention relates to a lateral and transverse cutter drive for three-cutter cutting machines, which is designed as a single-revolution crank linkage in such a way that the transverse cutter tie rod 37 and/or the lateral cutter tie rod 23 with the limbs F and G 22, 36 which are articulated thereto, the lateral cutter driven lever and the transverse cutter driven lever in the region of the lower cutter reversal point in the covering position and the crank 9 of the single-revolution shaft 8 with the connecting rods A and B 11, 25 which are articulated thereto are situated in an extended position. The invention ensures that the unavoidable play associated with the joints of the entire transmission chain do not have a disadvantageous effect on the reversal phase of the two generic types of cutters in the lower dead centre.
