An apparatus is proposed which permits the suspension of ceilings made up of square or rectangular insulating panels which have a groove along two edges, abutting at a panel edge, and a tongue along the two other edges. In a known manner, the apparatus has a thin U-bracket which engages in a precisely fitting manner about the tongue, over the depth of the latter, fits into the groove and is provided with a fastening strap which is connected to one of the bracket legs and by means of which the apparatus can be fitted on the system of binders and joists. The fastening strap of the known apparatuses has to be pushed into the foam panel material. This presents difficulties for mounting and the panels are often damaged to an inadmissible extent. This disadvantage is eliminated according to the invention by a special configuration of the bracket 11 and of the fastening strap 12b and by a particular method of fastening the latter on the former. Furthermore, the centring of the panels during assembly is improved as a result. <IMAGE>
