PROCESS FOR SCRUBBING RAW GASES LADEN WITH SULPHUR OXIDES AND NITROGEN OXIDES

In a process for scrubbing raw gases laden with sulphur and nitrogen oxides, the raw gases are contacted with a washing liquid containing a sulphur oxide absorbing agent and particularly iron-(II)-complex compounds to absorb the nitrogen oxides, during at least one washing step, the washing liquid having a negative redox potential. The equilibrium of oxidation of Fi<2+> ions into Fi<3+> ions, and also of the reduction of Fi<3+> ions into Fi<2+> ions is modified and favours the formation of Fi<2+>, thereby giving the iron complex compounds an optimum absorption capacity.
