PURPOSE:To input graphic information automatically and to input information in a closed area and other information separatedly by forming a closed area extracting means, a contact detecting means, a point sequence separating means, and an encoding means. CONSTITUTION:On the basis of picture image information inputted from a picture image input means 1, the point sequence information of the point sequence coordinates of the center of a line is obtained by a point sequence means 3. Then, the closed area is extracted by the closed area extracting means 5 and the edge part of the closed area which is contacted with another closed area of a non-closed area is detected by the contact detecting means 7. The closed area point sequence information and the non-closed area point sequence information which is not a point sequence in the closed area are separated from the point sequence information on the basis of the closed area information and stored in a point sequence separating information storage means 10. On the basis of the contact information, the contact part is registered as a point sequence overlapped to each closed area or non-closed area. Finally, the closed area point sequence information stored in the means 10 and other information are encoded by an encoding means 11 and automatically inputted to a computer.
