PURPOSE:To reduce paper jam and to prevent bending of the leading end of a sheet by making the width of an inlet of a paper guide used in a copying machine or the like smaller than the length of one side of a sheet, both end buckles thereof excepted. CONSTITUTION:A sheet 3 is fed out in direction of an arrow A by a feed roller 7 and engaged with separating fingers 5 so that buckles 9 are formed at two corners of the uppermost sheet in the vicinity of the fingers. One sheet of the uppermost layer is fed out by action of the feed roller 7 and the separating finger 5, and guided between the plate members 121, 122 of a paper guide 12. The length of sides 121-a, 122-a of plate members of an inlet of the paper guide 12 is set equal to the length of a flat portion of a sheet not forming buckles 9, or shorter than that in such a manner as to be aligned with the center line of the sheet. The guide 12 comprises plate members 121, 122 increasing in width toward a sheet outlet, wherein the bent side portions 121-b, 122-b of the plate member are machined to be smooth so that the sheet is not caught therein.
