The submerged pump (13) of the tank is surrounded by a pressure casing (27), the interior of which can be connected to the inside of the tank so that liquid can flow to the submerged pump (13). The pressure casing (27) can be sealed off, so that the connection to the inside of the tank is interrupted. Then, when the submerged pump (13) is idle, a compressed gas is guided via a pressure pipe (37) into the pump tube (14). The said compressed gas expels the residual liquid remaining in the pressure casing (27) through the residue emptying pipe (20).
