PURPOSE:To execute polling operation only for a connected disk device by forming means for detecting the connecting status of the disk devices in a disk device control circuit. CONSTITUTION:When the means 6-n for detecting the connecting status of the disk devices D11, D12 detect that the device D11 is not connected, a disk device connection detecting signal 14 is logic '1'. When the cables 12 of the devices D11, D12 are connected to connectors 13, the detecting signal 14 is turned to logic '0', so that the connection of the devices D11, D12 can be detected. Thus, useless polling operation for unconnected ports can be deleted by polling only two ports No.1, No.2 connected to the two devices D11, D12, so that the processing time can be shortened.
