PURPOSE:To identify the material and diameter of a long-sized buried body by transmitting and receiving a signal over movement on the ground while an antenna is rotated horizontally, and calculating a received signal which varies according to the relation between the burying direction of the buried pipe and the direction of the antenna. CONSTITUTION:The burying position of the buried pipe is detected by a pulse radar system and then the antenna 1 is rotated right over the buried pipe. Then, a signal E when the transmission and reception combined type or transmission and reception separated parallel type antenna 1 becomes parallel to the burying direction of the buried pipe and a code E' when the antenna 1 becomes perpendicular to the burying direction are inputted and their levels are compared with each other to decide on a metallic pipe when E>E' or nonmetallic pipe when E<E'. Then, the diameter is from an arithmetic expression in the former case. |
