PURPOSE:To enhance the drive efficiency of a surface wave motor by forming a piezoelectric element of a plurality of piezoelectric pieces arranged independently in the surface wave propagating direction, thereby equalizing the polarized state of the element. CONSTITUTION:A rotary surface wave motor 50 has a ring-shaped elastic element 10, and a plurality of piezoelectric pieces 5a-5n arranged independently on the surface of the element 10 and bonded by a conductive adhesive thereto. Since the pieces 5a-5g and 5i-5n are independently arranged except a small gap 52 independently from each other on the surface 22 of the ring-shaped elastic element 10 in a circumferential direction in the motor 50 having the above construction, the adjacent pieces of the pieces 5b-5g and 5i-5n do not affect to each other. Therefore, the polarized state of the pieces becomes uniform, and the element can be efficiently deformed. |
