PURPOSE:To decrease the wear of a mold and to improve productivity by bisecting the stationary short side molds of a belt type continuous casting machine to upper and lower parts and supporting and fastening expandably and contractably the divided molds to backup plates thereby decreasing the thermal deformation thereof and eliminating the leakage of cooling water and the penetration of a molten metal. CONSTITUTION:The stationary short side molds are bisected 27, 28 to the upper and lower parts in the casting direction and tghe central part thereof is bolted 12 to the backup plates 11. Rectangular gooves 19 are formed respectively to the upper and lower parts of the molds 27, 28 and are fitted to anchor keys 17, 18 fastened 22 to the plate 11 so that a gap is provided in the vertical direction of the grooves 19 further from the joint part of the divided mold pieces 27, 28. The deformation by the thermal expansion of the molds 27, 28 is decreased and the leakage of the cooling water for the mold and the penetration of the molten metal to the mold are prevented. The wear of the mold and the repair and exchange thereof are thus decreased and the productivity is improved. |
