PURPOSE:To obtain many steel ingots having the horizontal section larger than the height by partitioning the internal space of a hollow annular casting mold for unidirectionally solidified steel ingots with heat insulating materials to plural spaces, disposing a pouring pipe to the central part and casting a molten steel into the mold by bottom pouring. CONSTITUTION:The pouring pipe 2 is set on a molding board 1 and the cylindrical casting molds 3, 4 applied with the heat insulating materials 5, 5 are set around the same. The inside of the casting mold is then partitioned of the heat insulating material 7 and pop-offs 8 and runners 9 are disposed in the respective partitioned spaces. The molten steel 11 is then cast by bottom pouring into the mold through the pipe 2, the runners spaces. A heat insulating material 10 for the top is charged after the prescribed casting height is attained to end the casting. The division of the space in the casting mold to any parts anove 2 parts is possible. |
