PURPOSE:To attain copying of the original on a paper of a larger size than that of the original with accurate centering by performing the edit as setting the blank data around the image data simultaneously when transferring the image data to a bit map memory. CONSTITUTION:Size specification is performed on a console panel 2. When a CPU1 discriminates the printer output size as larger than the size of the original, the image of the original read by a scanner 9 is transferred to a work memory WM4, and stored there. Then, the edit is performed when the storage is moved from the WM4 to a bit map memory MM5 and is stored there. In this case, An (M-S)/2-line part of an L-dot blank image data is set in the MM5, and then, an (L-M)/2-dot blank data is set, and the N dots is moved from the WM4 to the MM5, and further, an (L-N)/2-dots of blank data is set. Following this, an (M-S)/2-line's share of the L-dot blank image data is set in the MM5. In this manner, all of the print output size is edited and stored in the MM5,and is supplied to a printer 7.
