ROLLING METHOD OF MATALLIC SHEET

PURPOSE:To extend the life of work rolls and to stabilize an operation for a long period in the stage of rolling a material by using a rolling mill which permits axial movement of the rolls by changing the temp. conditions of the work rolls in accordance with the number of the materials to be rolled. CONSTITUTION:The temp. conditions for the work rolls are changed in the following manner: The rate of thermal crown is decreased by increasing the flow rate of the cooling water for the rolls at the point of the time when the number of the materials to be passed for rolling is small in order to make equal the abrasion loss and the rate of thermal crown. The diameter in the central part of the work rolls is decreased with an increasing in the rolling quantity. The rolling is executed by decreasing gradually the time interval for rolling with an increase in the number of the materials to be rolled. The similar effect is obtainable even by adjusting the flow rate of the cooling water for the rolls in accordance with the time interval for rolling.
