PURPOSE:To change rolls efficiently by using a spare work roll ith chocks, arranged previously in the vicinity of a backup roll, to push away an used work roll with chocks. CONSTITUTION:Before changing rolls, a spare work roll 5a of large-diameter side is held, together with its chocks 6a, by a spare roll stock 14 and a roll supporting cylinder 15. When the rolls are changed, cylinders 16 for holding the chocks 6 of a work roll 5 are retreated to make the work roll 5 and chocks 6 free, and the spare roll 5a and chocks 6a are pushed up by the spare cylinder 15. The used work roll 5 and chocks 6, pushed by the roll 5a and chocks 6a, fall to the oppo- site side to be mounted on a chute 17. In this way, the rolls of a multi-high cluster mill can be changed in a short time. |
