PURPOSE:To prevent or reduce occurrence of low-frequency abnormal sound, vibration of a vehicle body, etc., by incorporating a graphite/rubber composite in a specified vol. ratio in a friction material compsn. such as a brake pad or brake lining. CONSTITUTION:A graphite/rubber composite is prepd., e.g., in such a method that rubber such as natural or synthetic rubber is added to a solvent to prepare a soln., to which graphite such as natural or artificial graphite is added, and the mixture is sufficiently mixed. Then 1-35vol% said composite is incorporated in a friction material compsn. primarily composed of a fibrous material such as steel fiber, a binder resin such as cashew-modified phenolic resin, a lubricant such as graphite or molybdenum disulfide, etc. to obtain the purpose friction material compsn. The obtd. compsn. is suitably used as a disk brake pad, brake lining, etc., used for braking an automobile, etc. |
