1,032,095. Toothed gearing. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 19, 1962 [Dec. 11, 1961], No. 44264/61. Heading F2Q. In a helical gear pair of the Wildhaber- Novikov type comprising complementary gear members 1, 11, the respective tooth profiles 3, 9 of which are, at each transverse cross-section, convex and concave curves based on arcs of circles, the centre of curvature 4 of each convex curve 3 lies on the pitch surface 7 of the gear 1, and the centre of curvature 8 of each concave curve 9 lies on the side of the pitch surface 15 of the gear 11 remote from the roots of the concave teeth 10, the radius of curvature of each convex curve being not less than the chordal thickness T of the convex teeth 2 as measured at the pitch surface 7. The gear pair may comprise meshed pinions, a pinion and an internally toothed gear, or a rack and pinion. |
