METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETECTING HOLDING POSITION OF ELECTRONIC PARTS

PURPOSE:To detect the position of an electronic parts accurately by irradiating the electronic parts held on an electronic parts holding device with light in one direction and detecting the position of its projection image. CONSTITUTION:When a suction head 70 while receives the electronic parts W is stopped at a fixed position, the head 70 is positioned between a projector 146 and a prism device 148. The projection image of the electronic parts W is formed on the solid-state image pickup element surface of an image pickup device 150 with the light projected by the projector 146. This projection image is converted by the device 150 into a binarization signal, which is outputted to a controller. The controller compares the binarization signal with a binarization signal which is stored in its memory previously and indicates the normal position of the electronic parts W to calculate an attitude error and a center position error based upon the normal position of the electronic parts W.
