PURPOSE:To provide excellent characteristics as an org. optical material by consisting said material of a homopolymer of a specific vinyl compd. or a copolymer of said compd. and a monomer copolymerizable therewith. CONSTITUTION:The above-mentioned material is constituted of the homopolymer of the vinyl compd. expressed by the formula or the copolymer of said compd. and the monomer copolymerizable therewith. Such multifunctional monomer is exemplified by divinyl benzene, ethylene glycol diacrylate, etc. and >=2 kinds thereof may be used in conjunction. The compsn. ratio is made >=5wt% the compd. The amt. of a radical polymn. initiator varies with a polymn. method, polymn. conditions and the kind of copolymer components and said agent is usually used in a 0.1-10pts.wt. range by 100pts.wt. the entire monomer. This org. optical material has a high refractive index and the excellent optical characteristics; in addition, the specific gravity thereof is small and the material has the characteristics not possible with other optical materials. The reduction in the thickness and weight of the material as well as the mass production of optical members having high accuracy are thereby made possible. |
