PURPOSE:To seal completely the periphery of a filter plate by pressing the filter plate with a lower pressure than the final clamping pressure using a loose head stock, then releasing the pressure and moving the loose head stock backward, and repeating the procedure more than once. CONSTITUTION:A loose head stock 3 is moved from the opening state of a filter plate 1 to move the filter plate forward. The pressure a this stage is set previously to 1/3-1/2 of the final clamping pressure. When the pressure reaches this preset value, the loose head stock 3 stops. Then, the loose head stock 3 is once moved backward for a specified time. Thus, the mutual friction between the filter plates 1 is reduced, and the attitude of inclined filter plate 1 is straightened vertically. Finally, a ram 5 of a cylinder 4 is protruded to move the loose head stock 3 forward and the filter plate 1 is clamped with a specified high clamping pressure.
