PURPOSE:To detect a specific track by writing a servo signal for the fine adjustment positioning of a head at part of a track for recording and reproduction and providing a section where there is no magnetism inversion in a signal for detecting the specific track. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head is positioned roughly for track feed while excitation phases of a stepping motor are changed and also positioned finely with a servo signal. Servo signals 43 and 44 are recorded on a magnetic recording medium about an outermost peripheral track center 40, servo signals 45 and 46 are provided about a track center 41, and servo signals 47 and 48 are provided about a track center 42. The track center 49 is place in a state 51 wherein there is no magnetism inversion and a signal 53 is recorded at the track center 52. The signals 53 and signal 43 and 44 are recorded at the same timing and inverted magnetism is not recorded at the place of the same timing with the signal 45. Thus, the outermost peripheral track where the servo signals are detected to perform reading and writing operations is specified. |
