PURPOSE:To enable prevention of the occurrence of impact during engagement, by a method wherein control of overlap causes prevention of rotation of the portion on the engine side of a frictional engaging device for a low speed step. CONSTITUTION:The servo oil pressure of a clutch 24 for a high speed step crosses the servo oil pressure of a brake 26 for a low speed step, and the brake 26 for a low speed step is increased in volume to a value being high enough to allow for engagement. During down shift of an auxiliary transmission 16 during stop of a vehicle, control of overlap is executed, at least either the clutch 24 for a high speed step or the brake 26 for a low speed step is held in an engaging state even during transmission. This prevents the portion on the engine side of the brake 26 for a low speed step from rotation, and prevents the occurrence of impact during engagement of the brake 26 for a low speed step. |
