PURPOSE:To obtain superior sliding material endurable sufficiently to use under extremely severe condition, by incorporating prescribed quantities of combination of Mn and Si and/or >= one kind among elements of groups IVa and VIa in periodic table, Pb and/or Sn, further P to copper base metal. CONSTITUTION:Copper as base metal, combination of 1-8% Mn and 0.1-4% Si and/or <=1% >= one kind among elements of groups IVa and VIa in periodic table are added, further 0.5-15% Pb and/or 0<Sn<5% are added, further <=1% P is added to sliding material. The material is strengthened in a range, in which thermal conductivity is not decreased so much, further decrease of hardness especially under high temp., moreover, sliding characteristic is good. Consequently, the material is superior and endurable sufficiently in use under severe condition such as shoe in slant plate type compressor for high capacity car cooler.
