PURPOSE:To obtain anisotropic magnet exhibiting high magnetic characteristic, by press working hollow billet having square columnar hollow part and composed of Mn-Al-C magnet alloy at a prescribed temp. in axis direction thereof, forming inner surface of billet to circumferential surface state, and applying inner surface magnetization. CONSTITUTION:Well-known said alloy is melted, cast to manufacture hollow shaped billet in which outer surface is circumferential, and hollow part is (2n+2) square column (n=1, 2, 3,...) shape, e.g. square shape. This is held at about 1,100 deg.C for about 2hr, then wind cooled to about 600 deg.C, held at about 600 deg.C for about 30min, then cooled under as left state to room temp. The billet is press worked in axis direction thereof, at 530-830 deg.C, using an outer mold 2 and punches 3, 4 to form inner surface of the billet 1 to circumferential shape, next, inner circumferential magnetization of 4 poles is applied to obtain anisotropic magnet exhibiting high magnetic characteristic.
