PURPOSE:2-Chloro-4-nitroaniline is treated with activated carbon, diazotized, then, allowed to react with beta-naphthol to give a novel permanent red with high safety to skin, because it is free from specific allergic substances. CONSTITUTION:2-Chloro-4-nitroaniline is treated with activated carbon (water is preferably used as a solvent), diazotized and coupled with beta-naphthol to give the objective pigment free from allergic substances, 2-chloro-4-nitrophenyl 2-naphthyl ether, 2-chloro-6-nitrophenyl 2-naphthyl ether and 4-chloro-2- nitrophenyl 2-naphthyl ether.
