摘要 PURPOSE:To enable comfort in driving to be improved when a car runs on an extremely rough road accidentally by controlling a suspension device in such a manner that a rear wheel suspension characteristic is changed when a front wheel has passed over the extremely rough road accidentally, then the characteristic is returned to the original condition after the rear wheel has cleared the above said rough road. CONSTITUTION:In a configuration where a suspension (c), the characteristic of which is changeable, is arranged between a body (a) and a rear wheel (b), a front and a rear wheel ground clearance detecting means (e) and (g) are arranged between the body (a) and the wheels at the front (d) and the rear (b) as the ground clearance. In addition, No.1 and No.2 decision means (f) and (h) are arranged so as to decide whether or not the detected ground clearance data are out of the stated range. When the ground clearance is decided to be out of the stated range by No.1 decision means (f), the suspension characteristic of the rear wheel is changed. Furthermore, a rear wheel suspension characteristic change means (i) is arranged so that the changed characteristic is returned to the original one, when the ground clearance is decided to be out of the stated range by No.2 decision means.
