NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R<1> is (protected) amino; R<2> is (protected) carboxy; R<3> is (substituted) heterocyclic thiomethyl, halomethyl, cyanovinylthiomethyl, etc.; Z is S or SO; X is acid residue; n is 0 or 1; X<1> and X<2> are halogen] and its salt. EXAMPLE:7-[ 2-( 2-Tritylaminothiazol-4-yl )-2-difluoromethoxyiminoacetamido ]3-(1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)thiomethyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid (syn-isomer). USE:An antibacterial agent. PREPARATION:The compound of formula II, its salt or its reactive derivative (e.g. silyl derivative) is made to react with the compound of formula III, its salt or its reactive derivative (e.g. halide) in a solvent such as DMF, in the presence of a base (e.g. sodium bicarbonate) under cooling or at room tempera ture.
