PURPOSE:To detect an image size with a simple constitution, and low-cost and in parallel with a copying work by providing the sensor detecting a non- recorded part between respective images as the second sensor. CONSTITUTION:In a mark M for retrieving a frame, the tip part of an image on a microfilm is located at the central part or the blank of either of up and down parts. Consequently, by providing the second sensor SB detecting the non-recorded part between respective images at a pair of intervals corresponding to a certain image size for the first sensor SM detecting the mark beforehand, the first sensor SM detects the mark M for retrieving the frame, and then, it is judged that the part is the image sensor set beforehand when the second sensor SB detects the non-recorded part. On the other hand, when the second sensor SB is corresponding to the recording part of the image and does not detect the non-recorded part, it can be judged that the image size is the one different from the image sensor set beforehand.
