EXAMPLE:2-[7-(2-Chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-2-naphthoxy]p-ropionic acid. USE:A herbicide showing improved effects on various weeds growing paddy fields and plowed fields from a period before occurrence to a growth period, exhibiting improved effects especially as a herbicide for foliar treatment against weeds in plowded fields, and not providing rice plants with phytotoxicity. PREPARATION:For example, a 7-(2-chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-2- hydroxynaphthalene shown by the formula II is reacted with an acetic acid derivative shown by the formula III optionally in a solvent in the presence of an acid binder to give a compound shown by the formula I.
