PURPOSE:To improve adhesive strength, still durability and S/N (video) by subjecting the surface of a nonmagnetic base on at least the side to be provided with a magnetic layer to a non-contact surface treatment and providing a substratum layer contg. an amorphous linear satd. polyester resin thereon then coating the magnetic layer thereon and irradiating radiation to said layer. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the nonmagnetic base on at least the side to be provided with the magnetic layer is subjected to the non-contact surface treatment and after the substratum layer contg. the amorphous linear satd. polyester resin is provided thereon, the magnetic layer contg. mainly magnetic powder as well as binders A, B and C is provided thereon and the radiation is irradiated to said layer. Here, A is a COOH group-contg. vinyl chloride resin and/or cellulose resin, B is urethane acrylate and C is an acrylate monomer. The amorphous satd. polyester resin consists essentially of a dibasic acid and dihydric alcohol. The thickness of the substratum layer is 0.03-0.5mu, more preferably 0.05-0.3mu. The effect to the adhesive powder decreases if the thickness if lower than 0.03mu. The smoothness is deteriorated and the tape having the high S/N ratio is hardly obtd. if the thickness exceeds 0.5mu.
