PURPOSE:To decrease the writing and reading mistakes by holding with pressure and optical memory card with a transparent plate, a card holding plate and a pressure drive mechanism to hold and fix the card and therefore correcting the warp of the card to secure a fixed distance between a reading or writing element and an optical storage medium. CONSTITUTION:When an optical memory card 2 is put on a transparent plate 1, a card holding plate 4 is pressed by a solenoid 5 and moved down. In this case, the plate 4 is guided by a guide rod 6 and moved down vertically. The non-reading surface of the card 2 is pressed by the plate 4 and the card 2 is held between both plates 4 and 1. Then the reading surface of the card 2 is supported along the surface of the plate 1. Here the warp of the card 2 if occurs is corrected by pressure. Thus the card 2 is kept flat.
