PURPOSE:To prevent the erroneous selection of an ooperation mode by selecting an operational mode which is the same as that before the stoppage of the operation when the operation is resumed within the set time, and conversely, operating the device in an operational mode selected based on a room temperature sensor after the lapse of a set time. CONSTITUTION:The device comprises timing means 5 for meansuring whether the operation stop time has passed the set time or not after stopping the operation of a compressor by an operating part 1, memory means A for storing an operational mode at the time of stopping the operation until the operation stopping time passes the set time, and erasing the operation mode at the time of stopping the operation; and operational mode selecting means B for selecting the operational mode stored in the memory means A at the time of starting the operation by the operating part 1 based on the measurement and discrimination of the operation stop time by the timing means 5 when the operation stop time does not pass the set time, but selects the operational mode set based on the room temperature detected by a room temperature detector. The memory means A and the operational mode selecting selecting means B are provided in a control circuit 4.
