New cyclic peptide designated majusculamide C(I) was extd. from deep- water blue green algae, Lyngbya majuscula. Thus, 3 kg wet wt. L. lmajuscula was homogenized and extd. with 1:2 CHCH3MeOH. Water was added into the ext. and the org. layer was washed and dried to give 22g crude residue. The residue was Chromatographed on Florisil column, eluted with 1:1 hexane-CHCl3 and pure CHCl3 to purify 4g (I) . (I) is useful for inhibitory fungal plant pathogens in tomatoes and grapes.
