PURPOSE:To detect quickly a fault occurrence location such as frequency devia tion of a synchronous oscillator in a terminal station by transmitting a test communication frame adding test display control information to a communica tion frame having a maximum length data possible for keeping signal reception synchronization and transmitting the frame while response display control infor mation is added when the said test communication frame is received normally. CONSTITUTION:A data with a proper content is located at a data part 37 of a test communication frame and a prescribed test index is given to a command part 35 as a communication frame. A test control section 20 identifies the com mand part 35 of the received communication frame, a reception control section 16 calculates an error detection code and the result is informed to the test control section 20. The test control section 20 generates a response communica tion frame when the reception is finished normally, and transfers the result to a transmission control section 18 to transmit a response communication frame. When the reception of test communication frame is not normal, the response communication frame is not transmitted and the reception processing is finished.
