PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of oxidized film due to heating on the surface of a metallic fine wire and to prevent the breaking of metallic fine wire due to the oxidized film by cooling the metallic fine to be worked in case of producing the metallic fine wire by die drawing. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the metallic wire 2 to be worked for wire drawing is cooled to less than 50 deg.C by each die 3 by feeding much to a die part 1 the emulsion type lubricant cooled to about 5 deg.C in case of performing a wire drawing in a fine wire of the metallic wire of Al wire, etc. with the wire drawing device by multistep die 3 and capstan 4. Or it is cooled by feeding the liquid nitrogen gas, hydrogen gas of ultralow temp. into the capstan 4. The oxidized film is not formed on the surface to the metallic fine wire 2 due to the heating, nor causing the strength reduction due to the rise of temp. and the breading caused by these does not happen therefore during the wire drawing.
